ABOUT THIS COMMITTEE

The Eastern Front has collapsed. The October Revolution in Russia led to the Bolshevik takeover of the Russian government and a bloody civil war. The Germans have now begun redeploying their troops to the Western Front, hoping to break the Allies' will before they can be reinforced by the American Expeditionary Force (AEF). For the allies, however, there is still work to be done in the East. The Czechoslovak Legion, a group of 50,000 troops, was stuck in Russia as negotiations of their safe travels have broken down. Germans have now landed in Finland, threatening the arsenal at Arkhangelsk (Archangel), and the allies hope to aid the White Russians in winning the Russian Civil War.

Will they be able to reinvigorate the Eastern Front? Will Germany use this opportunity to break the Allies once and for all? Who will win between the White and Red Russians? All these questions and more will hang in the balance of Operation Archangel.

Paloma Fernandez (she/her)

Paloma is an international student from Mexico in her sophomore year. She is studying Political Science with minors in French and Data Science. Paloma’s interest in International Relations and Political Science was sparked by living in different places throughout her childhood, such as Mexico City, Belgium, and a small town in New Jersey. She is so excited to form a part of the collegiate circuit as a member of UNCMUNC’s Secretariat. Apart from MUN, Paloma enjoys crocheting, reading thrillers, and oat milk lattes (which in her opinion, can be best enjoyed at Epilogue on Franklin Street).
